Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Take 1 kg ripe guavas (amrood) and boil them with ½ glass of water until they become soft. You can also cook them in a pressure cooker for quicker results.
  2. Once softened, blend and strain the guavas to remove all the seeds and get a smooth puree.
  3. Add the guava puree back to the pan with 1 cup sugar and cook on medium heat until the chutney thickens and reaches a jam-like consistency.
  4. Add a pinch of red food color (optional) and kala namak (black salt) to taste.
  5. For a spicy version, add red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder, or your favorite spices.
  6. Finally, add 1 tablespoon vinegar and cook for another minute to balance the flavors and help preserve the chutney.
  7. Let it cool and enjoy this sweet, tangy, and flavorful homemade amrood chutney with your favorite snacks or meals.
